３月頭、京都に４泊５日してきました！
2歳0歳で新幹線に乗るのは初めて。長女が0歳だった頃に新幹線は那須への往復、東京→軽井沢→新潟→金沢→東京と６回乗ったことがあります。ただ子供が2人、かつ混雑するJR東海道線（特に東京ー新大阪間は混む）となるとまた勝手が違うもの。
今回も割とうまく行った点と反省点があるので、シェアします！
n early March, we stayed in Kyoto for 4 nights and 5 days!
It was my first time riding the Shinkansen with a 2-year-old and an infant. When my eldest was an infant, we rode the Shinkansen six times round trip to Nasu, Tokyo → Karuizawa → Niigata → Kanazawa → Tokyo. However, having two children, especially on the crowded JR Tokaido Line (especially between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka), presented its own challenges.
Sharing my learning and knowledge here as much as possible!
結論から簡単にいうと、号車選び、席選びが大事、そのための予約サイトが大事、です。
To put it simply, choosing the right car and seats is crucial, and having a reservation site for that purpose is also crucial.
⇧行き。大人2人席に2歳と0歳もいて、ベビーカーもあって、座席は満席。ぎゅうぎゅう乗車。
・号車選び：広いデッキと多目的室の近くを選ぶ
広いデッキと多目的室は１１−１２号車の間にあります。
Car selection: Choose a car close to a spacious deck and multipurpose room. The spacious deck and multipurpose room are located between cars 11 and 12.
デッキには、広いトイレと普通サイズのトイレ、そして多目的室があるのです。歩きたい盛りの1歳成り立てや、赤ちゃんが泣き止まなかった時など、歩き回れる広いエリアがあると安心。
うちは行きも帰りも１１・１２号車で過ごしました。帰りは2歳娘がベビーカーで寝ていたため、広めのデッキでベビーカーを置いて寝かせ、そのそばに大人一人が交代でいるようにしました。これも、広いデッキで良かった点。
途中おむつ替えもしましたが、ここのトイレは広いのと狭いのと2つあるのも助かります。トイレが一つしかないと、後ろの列を長くしては行けないと、おむつ替えも焦るもんね。
The deck has spacious and regular-sized toilets, as well as a multipurpose room. Having a wide area to walk around, especially for a newly walking 1-year-old or when the baby wouldn’t stop crying, provided peace of mind.
We spent both the outbound and return trips in cars 11 and 12. On the return trip, our 2-year-old daughter was sleeping in the stroller, so we placed it in the spacious deck to let her sleep, with one adult accompanying her. This was another advantage of having a spacious deck.
We also changed diapers along the way, and having two toilets here, one spacious and one small, was helpful. If there’s only one toilet, it can be stressful if you can’t extend the queue too much for changing diapers.
・授乳には多目的室を使い、ベッド型にする
１１号車と１２号車の間には多目的室というのがあります。これは気分の悪くなった人が休んだり、授乳したりするのに使う部屋。椅子がこのように長くなるんです！or nursing, use the multipurpose room and turn it into a bed. Between cars 11 and 12, there’s a multipurpose room for people feeling unwell to rest or for nursing. The seats become like this!
0歳を授乳してる間、2歳の娘も一緒にここでノビノビさせます。特に名古屋まで混雑してて狭いので、これがあって助かった。
もちろん、他にも使う人がいるかもしれないので必要以上に長い滞在は厳禁。以前、私の前に使っていた人が長すぎてなかなか授乳できず困ったことがあるので、気をつけてます。
ちなみに多目的室を開けるには駅員さんに依頼して鍵を開けてもらいます。勝手には入れませんし、不要な用途では使えません。
While nursing the infant, our 2-year-old daughter also stretched out comfortably here. Especially since it was crowded until Nagoya and space was limited, this was a lifesaver.
Of course, excessive stays are prohibited since others may need to use it. I’ve been careful ever since I had trouble nursing because the person before me used it for too long.
By the way, to open the multipurpose room, you need to ask the station staff to unlock it. You can’t enter on your own, and it can’t be used for unnecessary purposes.
・席選び：大人の数に合わせて席を選ぶ。できれば特大荷物コーナー を選べればベスト。
Seat selection: Choose seats according to the number of adults. If possible, selecting the front row of the extra-large baggage area is the best.
列車の最前列か最後列には、特大荷物スペースがあります。最前列だとベビーカーをたたまずギリギリ（足の置き場には困るけど）最後列だとベビーカーを畳んでおいておくことが可能。
The front and rear rows of the train have oversized baggage area. In the front row, you can barely fit the stroller without folding it (although it’s awkward for legroom), while in the rear row, you fold the stroller and keep it there.
うちは行きが列車の後ろの方でしたが、最後列5人が優しい外国人のお客さんで、みな「私の荷物の上にベビーカー置いていいよ！」と言ってくれてベビーカーを置くことができました。
ちなみに、特大荷物に含まれるのは、荷物の3辺の合計が160cm超250cm以内の荷物です（例：30cm×50cm×80cmなど）。
ベビーカーや車いすは、サイズが超えてても予約なしで利用可能というルール。でも、正直すでに他のお客さんの荷物で埋まっていて、偶然親切な外国人のお客さんだったのでその上に載せていいよと言ってくれたけど、他の人が「自分の荷物の上にベビーカー置いていいよ」なんて言ってくれるとは限りません。
帰りも隙間なく埋まっていました。なので、事前予約しておけば通常の指定席と同じ値段で確実に利用することができるので、事前に予約で押さえるのがおすすめです。
＊以前は、3席並んだ席のうち通路側の1席がない座席をベビーカーそのままで乗車も可能だったようですが、今はそれは車いすの方の専用席で、予約は不可能。
また、もし広いデッキに近い１１−１２号車が空いていなくても、この荷物特大コーナーの最前列があれば充分という記事も見かけました。確かに、それならベビーカーを開いたまま子供を座らせられるので、それでも良いかもしれません。
Strollers and wheelchairs can be used without reservation, even if they exceed the size. However, honestly, it was already filled with other passengers’ luggage, and it was only thanks to the kind foreign passengers that we could place ours on top. But not everyone might say, “You can put your stroller on top of my luggage.”
It was also filled on the return trip. So, it’s recommended to make a reservation in advance, as you can use it reliably at the same price as regular reserved seats.
*Previously, it seems you could board with the stroller in seats where one of the three seats in a row was missing, but now it’s reserved for wheelchairs, and reservations are not possible.
Also, even if cars 11 and 12, close to the spacious deck, are not available, I saw an article saying that the front row of this over-sized baggage area is sufficient. Certainly, if that’s the case, you can leave the stroller open in the children’s seats, so if you don’t need a leg space, that might be fine.
・予約サイト：東海道線の場合、オンライン予約は「えきねっとよりもスマートEX」
Reservation site: For the Tokaido Line, online reservations are better with “SmartEX” than “eki-net.”
その理由１：駅ねっとだと座席指定ができない
上記のような席がいいという情報は得ても、えきねっとだと「連続席がいい」「前部後部がいい」などは選べても、実際の席を指定することはできません。これは本当に不便！
なので、行きは満員の３列シートの中に大人二人と子供二人、他のビジネスマンの人と同席になってしまった。隣の人、落ち着かなくて申し訳なかった。
Reason 1: With eki-net, you can’t specify seats.Even if you get information about which seats are good, with eki-net, you can choose things like “continuous seats” or “front or rear seats,” but you can’t specify the actual seats. This is really inconvenient!
So, on the outbound trip, we ended up sitting with two adults and two children among other businessmen in a fully-packed 3-seat row. I apologize to the person next to me for being unsettled.
その理由２： スマートEX出ないとSuica紐付けができない。
駅ねっとを選ばない二つ目の理由となりますが、JR東海道線の新幹線に乗ると、Suicaの紐付けができません！(東北・北海道、上越、北陸、山形、秋田の各新幹線はEチケットということでSuica紐付けが可能）
それを知らなかった私たちは、出発日にチケット受け取りでかなり焦りました。那須の時Suicaで行けたから、可能でしょ？と思ってしまったのですが、えきねっとはJR東日本、スマートEXは東海道線、山陽山陰線などで区分けが違うらしく、スマートEXが管轄している部分はICタグ付けができないんです。なんて不便！
結局、購入したクレカを持っていたので無事チケットを発券できて事なきを得たのですが、オンラインで買う時は注意！東海道・山陽線はスマートEXが良いです。
Reason 2: Without SmartEX, you can’t link Suica.
This is the second reason for not choosing eki-net. When riding the JR Tokaido Line Shinkansen, you can’t link Suica! (For the Tohoku, Hokkaido, Joetsu, Hokuriku, Yamagata, and Akita Shinkansen lines, you can link Suica with an E-ticket.)
We didn’t know this, so we were quite panicked on the departure date when receiving our tickets. Since we could use Suica for Nasu Trip before, we thought it would work here too, right? But eki-net is for JR East, while SmartEX is for the Tokaido Line,Sanyo Line, and others, and it seems there’s a different division, so you can’t tag IC on SmartEX. What a inconvenience!
In the end, we had a credit card, so we were able to issue tickets without any problems, but be careful when buying online! For the Tokaido and Sanyo Lines, SmartEX is better.
・グリーン車を選ぶのも手。
今回はしませんでしたが、子供が増えてきたので足元の広いグリーン車にしてそこにピクニックシートを引いて遊ばせるのもありかもしれません。
普通車の座席の配列は通路を挟んで2名掛けと3名掛けの5席が一般的ですが、グリーン車は2名掛けと2名掛けの4席です。座席数が少ない分、グリーン車はより座席の幅が広く、ひじ掛け部分も大きくとられています。
また前後の座席との間隔であるシートピッチも標準的なグリーン車は1,160mmで、普通車は1,040mmと12cmの差があり、ゆったり座ることができます（九州新幹線や秋田新幹線など、一部異なる場合があります）。
ただ価格差が大きいのも事実。一人五千円くらい違うかな。２時間で着く京都では採用しませんでしたが、もっと長距離だったらアリかも。
まあ、結局誰かが大泣きになることもなく、行き帰り無事につきました。京都旅行の途中から母が参戦してくれたので、帰りは大人3人に子供2人になったのも良かった。
- Choosing Green Cars is also an option.
We didn’t do it this time, but it might be a good idea to choose a Green Car with more legroom and lay down a picnic sheet for them to play on.
The seating arrangement in ordinary cars usually consists of 5 seats, with two and three seats across the aisle being common, but Green Cars have four seats across the aisle. With fewer seats, Green Cars have wider seats and larger armrests.
Also, the seat pitch, the distance between the front and rear seats, is typically 1,160mm in standard Green Cars, while it’s 1,040mm in ordinary cars, giving you a more spacious seating experience (although it may vary on some Shinkansen lines such as the Kyushu and Akita Shinkansen).
However, the price difference is significant. It’s about 5,000 yen per person. We didn’t choose it for Kyoto, which takes only 2 hours to reach, but it might be worth it for longer distances.
・車内での過ごし方
車内での遊びは、飛行機などと同じです。狭い場所でも遊べるグッズを用意しておく、事前に遊ばせて寝るようにするなど、子連れ飛行機ガイドにも書きましたのでご参考に。
でも新幹線のほうが、常に歩き回れるし、耳抜きの必要もないし、気軽だよね。
