こんにちは！普段は全国通訳案内士として、また二人の幼児を連れた母として家族で年間100日くらい旅をしていますAmiです。
今回は2026年冬、アメリカから義父母も呼んで中東（アラブ首長国連邦とカタール）１ヶ月弱の旅。
アブダビでは２週間弱滞在。スイートルームだけ、なんと５つものホテル（下記）に泊まりました。
今回はアンダーズ アブダビ キャピタル ゲートについてお伝えします。
世界中を旅する中で、私が大切にしているのは「その土地ならではの体験」と「人とのパーソナルな繋がり」。
今回訪れたアブダビのランドマーク、世界で最も傾斜した建物「キャピタル・ゲート・タワー」にあるアンダーズ アブダビ キャピタル ゲートは、まさにその両方を感じさせてくれる場所でした。
ロビーで迎えるアートと「個」のホスピタリティ
エレベーターを上がり一歩足を踏み入れると、ロビー付近にある素敵なガラスのアートが迎えてくれる。残念ながらアーティストはわからないそうだが、とても美しい！
今回の滞在でも、一番印象に残ったのは、スタッフとのパーソナルな繋がり。

現在、アンダーズ側がパークハイアット東京とメニューのコラボレーションをしている。私は東京出身で、パークハイアット東京にも泊まるよと伝えたところ。 日本語を話せる若い日本人女性のインターン生がわざわざ電話を繋いでくれて、最後にお話しできたのも嬉しいサプライズ。異国の地で、現地のスタッフが日本と繋がろうとしてくれる姿勢には、同じおもてなしに携わる身としてシンパシーを感じる瞬間。
レストランで出会った女性スタッフも素晴らしかった。 彼女は以前、アンダーズ ドーハやグランドハイアット ドーハで働いていたそうで、子連れにおすすめの場所を後から手書きメモにまとめてきてくれた。感動！
「もしそのホテル行ったら私の名前を伝えてね」という言葉。 大勢の中の一人ではなく、個人を見て向き合ってくれる余裕。一人一人のゲストに声をかける彼女の姿勢は素晴らしい。忙しい中、こういうスタッフを一人配置するだけでも、温かい気持ちになるよね。

朝食と、子供たちが喜んだドーナツ
その朝食は18階の「Cyan Brasserie（シアン ブラッスリー）」。
グランドハイアット ドバイやアブダビのような巨大なビュッフェと比べると種類は絞られている。でも、クオリティは高い。
特にオーダー形式の卵料理を無限に注文できるのが嬉しい。ひとつひとつ丁寧に作られる料理が美味しく、お昼ご飯がいらなくなるほど。 果物や野菜はフレッシュ、チーズの種類は豊富、パンは美味しいし、苺味とチョコ味のドーナツは、子供たちに大ウケ。子供が喜ぶポイントをしっかり押さえている。
ミャンマーのサーバーさが二人いて、ミャンマー行ったことあるよ！と盛り上がった。ミャンマー、謙虚で素敵な人が多いんだよね。
建築とアートを「歩いて楽しむ」
デザイン性が高くて歩いているだけで楽しいホテル。
- バッテンの景色： 外から見ると美しい曲線。でも、中からは建物を支える巨大な構造材「バッテン」が視界に入る。景色を邪魔しているようにも見えるけれど、それ自体が現代アートのような迫力です。
- プールと廊下： 屋上のプールは、高い場所にあるだけあっておしゃれ。でも、スペースとしては狭め。
- それ以外にも、廊下や共有部にもアート作品が点在していて、どこを切り取っても絵になる構成。
子連れでの滞在には注意も必要
正直なところ、子供向けのホテルかと聞かれると、うーんそこまでキッズフレンドリーではないな、という印象。
部屋はスイートだったけれど構造上少し狭い。
部屋が分かれているのは良かったけれど、全体的に広々とした造りではない。
素敵なアート作品が部屋に置いてあったり、テレビの配置も独特なので、子連れからしたら危ないと感じる場面も。
朝食も2日間行ったけれど、子供用フォークやスプーンもないし、ハイチェアの提案もなし。他のホテルなら確実に提案してくれるので、ないのだろう。
大きなコンベンションセンター直結のホテルで、そこでイベントがあったようなので、すぐに埋まってしまったからアップグレードできなかったのかもしれない。
結び：平和への願いを込めて
2日目の夜、部屋に置かれていた3つのチョコ。3つ目のチョコから溢れ出す豪華な佇まいは、まさにこのホテルの個性を象徴するような存在感。
キッズフレンドリーさや、ファミリー向けの至れり尽くせりなサービスを期待する場所ではない。
どちらかというとデザイン好きなビジネスマンが楽しむ場所。
でも、デザインの中で暮らす体験や、スタッフとのパーソナルな交流に価値を置くなら、非常に刺激的な滞在になるはず。
最後に。
今、中東で起きている戦争に心を痛めています。
イランもだし、たった1ヶ月前に私たちが家族で滞在し、温かいおもてなしを受けたUAEやカタールが、戦争の被害に巻き込まれるとは・・・。
私はアメリカによるイラン攻撃に反対します。
一日も早く、中東に平和が戻ることを心から願っています。

Hi everyone! I’m Ami. I’m a nationally licensed interpreter-guide and a mother of two toddlers, traveling around the world for about 100 days a year.
In the winter of 2026, my family—including my parents-in-law from the US—embarked on a month-long journey through the Middle East (UAE and Qatar). During our two-week stay in Abu Dhabi, we experienced five different hotels, staying exclusively in suites.
This time, I’ll be sharing my experience at Andaz Abu Dhabi Capital Gate.
In my travels, I prioritize two things: “unique local experiences” and “personal connections with people.”
My visit to Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi, located in the iconic Capital Gate tower (the world’s furthest leaning man-made tower), offered a perfect blend of both.
Artistic Welcomes and Personalized Hospitality
It’s quite common for these types of mixed-use buildings to share an entrance with general offices. However, the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by stunning glass art near the lobby.
What resonated with me most during this stay was the personal connection with the staff. Currently, Andaz is collaborating on a menu with Park Hyatt Tokyo. When I mentioned, “I’m from Tokyo and I stay at Park Hyatt Tokyo too,” it sparked a wonderful conversation. They even went out of their way to put me on the phone with a young Japanese female intern so we could chat. As someone who also works in hospitality, seeing the local staff strive to connect with Japan felt like a moment of true professional sympathy.
The female staff member I met at the restaurant was also incredible. She had previously worked at Andaz Doha and Grand Hyatt Doha, and she later brought me a handwritten note listing recommended spots for families with children. I was so moved! “If you go to those hotels, please give them my name,” she said.
Having someone who sees you as an individual, rather than just one of many guests, makes such a difference. Even in a busy environment, having a staff member who takes the time to engage personally creates such a warm atmosphere.
Breakfast and the Donuts the Kids Loved
Breakfast is served at Cyan Brasserie on the 18th floor. Compared to the massive buffets at Grand Hyatt Dubai or Abu Dhabi, the selection is more curated, but the quality is high.
I loved the “unlimited” made-to-order egg dishes. Everything was prepared so carefully and was so delicious that we didn’t even need lunch. The fruits and vegetables were fresh, the cheese selection was extensive, and the bread was excellent. The strawberry and chocolate donuts were a huge hit with my kids—they really know how to win over the little ones! I also had a great time chatting with two servers from Myanmar. Having visited Myanmar myself, I always appreciate how humble and lovely the people are.
“Walking Through” Architecture and Art
This hotel is a joy to explore simply for its design.
- The “Cross-Braced” View: From the outside, the building has beautiful curves. From the inside, however, you see the massive “diagrid” structural beams. While some might feel they obstruct the view, they have a powerful presence, almost like a piece of modern art.
- The Pool and Hallways: The rooftop pool is stylish and offers great height, though the space itself is a bit cramped. Throughout the hallways and common areas, art pieces are scattered everywhere—every corner is a photo opportunity.
Note for Families with Children
To be honest, if you asked me if this hotel is “kids-friendly,” I’d say it’s not particularly geared toward families.
Our room was a suite, but due to the building’s unique structure, it felt a bit tight. While having separate rooms was great, the overall layout wasn’t very spacious. With delicate art pieces in the room and a unique TV placement, there were moments where I felt it was a bit precarious with toddlers.
During our two days at breakfast, there were no child-sized forks or spoons, and no high chair was offered (something most hotels would proactively suggest). Since the hotel is directly connected to a large convention center, it seems they were fully booked for an event, which might be why we couldn’t get a more spacious upgrade.
Closing: A Wish for Peace
On our second night, we found three chocolates in our room. The third one had such a luxurious presence, perfectly symbolizing the bold identity of this hotel.
This isn’t a place to expect “all-inclusive” family service. It’s more of a playground for design-loving business travelers. But if you value living within a piece of art and making personal connections with staff, it will be a highly stimulating stay.
Finally…
my heart aches over the current war in the Middle East. From Iran to the UAE and Qatar—places where my family stayed just a month ago and received such warm hospitality—it’s devastating to think they are being caught in the crossfire of war.
I oppose the US attacks on Iran. From the bottom of my heart, I wish for peace to return to the Middle East as soon as possible.
