子連れドーハ、グランドハイアットにして正解だった！
こんにちは！普段は全国通訳案内士として、また起業家・母として、年間100日くらい旅をしています。
今回は1月半ばからドバイ、UAE、そして1月末から2月頭にかけて、夫と2人の娘と一緒にカタールのドーハへ家族旅してきました。今回のドーハ滞在で宿泊したのが「グランドハイアット ドーハ ホテル＆ヴィラズ」。ここ、スイートルームにしたんだけど、本当に正解だった！もう、とにかく「楽」の連続。子連れ旅行のハードルをぐっと下げてくれるホテルだったので、詳しくレポートしますね。
まずロビーが圧巻！
スイートルームで叶った「自分の時間」
やっぱり子連れ旅行って、子供を寝かせてる間に「ちょっと自分のことしたい」って思っても、なかなか時間が取れないじゃない？ でも、ここのスイートはリビングとベッドルームが別なので、本当に助かった。子供が昼寝してる間とか、朝まだ寝てる間に、少しでもちょっとでも自分の時間を確保できる。このおかげで、旅行中なのに自分のことができて、気持ちに余裕が持てました。
キッズクラブがもう「神」レベル！
一番感動したのがキッズクラブ。1日中スタッフの先生がいて、しっかり面倒見てくれるんです。 丸1日預けっぱなしにすることはなかったけど、例えば外から帰ってきて「下の子はまだ寝てるけど、上の子は元気……」みたいな夕方の2時間とか。上の子が「自分から行きたい！」って言うので行かせてみたんだけど、先生もすごい優しくて、安心して任せられました。朝もちょっと寄ってから遊びに行ったりして、子供もすっかりお気に入りでした。なお預かりは四歳から。
なお、私は子供たちにスタッフを先生として接するように話していましたが、（Ms.をつけて呼ぶなど）アラブの子たちとかインドの子達とか、結構明らかに「自分より下のもの」としての態度をする親もみました。そういう態度を自分の子供に見せるのどうなのよって私は思っちゃうけれど、アラブ諸国、こういうのお多いんですよね。お金あって使ってる方が上位、みたいな感覚の人が多い。
無限に遊べる充実の公園 ホテル内で完結しちゃう
初日は飛行機移動で疲れていたので、翌日丸1日ホテルリゾート内で過ごしたんだけど、これがまた最高で。 プールもいいし、遊具がたくさんある公園がものすごい良いんですよ。ビーチの横にもあるし、小さい子用の遊具もあったりして。わざわざ外に行かなくても、ホテルの中で子供たちが思いっきり発散できる環境なのは、親として本当に過ごしやすかった。
サッカーコートもあります（余談ですが中東はサッカー人気がすごい。UAEのリッツにもあったが子供向けサッカーコートがよくある。なんなら王宮にもあったりする）
食事とラウンジのホスピタリティ
食事に関しては、正直に言うと、ドバイのグランドハイアットに比べたら「ものすごい美味しい！止まらない！」っていうほどではなかったかな。でも、全然良かったし、何よりこのホテルのおかげで旅が楽になったのは間違いないです。
特に助かったのが、毎日夕方にラウンジでご飯を食べられたこと。子連れで朝・昼・晩って全部外食するのはやっぱり大変じゃないですか。だから朝と夕方にホテルでちゃんとした食事がついてるのは、本当にありがたい。 ラウンジのスタッフもすごく優しくて、子供たちもなついてたし、他のお客さんで日本ファンの人と仲良くなって一緒に食事したり……。そういう温かい交流があったのも、このホテルを選んで良かったなと思うポイントでした。
アクセスについて
ちなみに立地は、他の観光地が空港近くに固まっているドーハにしては珍しく、空港から30〜40分くらい離れたところにあります。でも近くにも遊ぶところはあるし、地下鉄も通っているから、そこまで不便は感じなかったかな。
とにかく「子連れで楽をしたい！」という人には、全力でおすすめしたいホテルでした！
Family Trip to Doha: Why Grand Hyatt was the Perfect Choice!
Hi everyone! I’m a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter, an entrepreneur, and a mother who travels about 100 days a year.
From mid-January, we spent time in Dubai and the UAE, and from late January to early February, I went on a family trip to Doha, Qatar, with my husband and two daughters. For our stay in Doha, we chose the Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel & Villas. We stayed in one of their suites, and let me tell you—it was the best decision! It made everything so much easier. If you’re looking for a hotel that lowers the stress of traveling with kids, this is it.
The Magic of a Separate Living Room
One of the hardest things about traveling with kids is trying to find a moment for yourself. You want to do a little something while the kids are sleeping, but it’s nearly impossible in a standard room. Since we had a suite, the living room and bedroom were separate. This was a game-changer! Whether the kids were napping or still asleep in the morning, I could actually get some of my own things done. Having that extra space gave me so much peace of mind.
The Kids Club was “God-tier”
I was most impressed by the Kids Club. They have staff and teachers there all day to look after the little ones. We didn’t leave the kids there all day, but it was perfect for those “gap” times—like when we’d come back from an outing and the younger one was napping, but the older one was still full of energy. My daughter actually said, “I want to go!” She loved it, and the teachers were so kind that I felt completely comfortable leaving her there for a couple of hours in the late afternoon. We even dropped by for a bit in the morning before heading out!
I always told my kids to treat the staff with the same respect they would show their teachers (like calling them “Ms. [Name]”). However, I noticed quite a few parents from Arab or Indian backgrounds who treated the staff as if they were clearly “below” them.
To be honest, it made me question that kind of parenting—is that really the attitude you want to show your children? But unfortunately, you see this quite often in Arab countries. There’s a widespread mentality that “the one with the money who is paying” is superior.
A Resort You Never Have to Leave
Since we were tired from the flight on the first day, we spent the entire next day just enjoying the hotel. It was fantastic. The pools are great, but the playground was amazing. It’s a huge park-like area with tons of equipment, right next to the beach. They even have separate play areas for smaller toddlers. Not having to leave the hotel for the kids to run around and have fun made our stay so stress-free.
Dining and Lounge Hospitality
To be honest, compared to the Grand Hyatt in Dubai, I wouldn’t say the food was “so delicious I couldn’t stop eating,” but it was still good! And more importantly, the convenience made the whole trip better.
What saved us was being able to have dinner at the lounge every evening. As a parent, trying to go out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day is exhausting. Having a solid breakfast and dinner right there in the hotel was a lifesaver. The lounge staff were incredibly kind, and my kids really warmed up to them. We even made friends with another guest who was a big fan of Japan and ended up having dinner together! Those warm connections made the stay even more special.
Location and Accessibility
In terms of location, it’s about 30 to 40 minutes from the airport. In Doha, most tourist spots are clustered near the airport, so this hotel is a bit unique in being further out. However, there are plenty of things to do nearby, and with the Metro being so accessible, we didn’t feel inconvenienced at all.
If you’re traveling with children and just want to have an “easy” and relaxing time, I can’t recommend this hotel enough!
