A high-end villa that looks like a floating bird’s nest in the air.
While searching for accommodations in Thailand, we came across this hotel, which holds the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) title. I instantly fell in love with the photos and thought, “I want to stay here!” But then I hesitated—would it be okay with kids? Here’s my honest review after experiencing it firsthand.
It’s an indulgent stay, costing around 100,000–150,000 JPY ($700–$1,000) per night for a family. However, by using the method I’ll introduce at the end, we managed to reduce the cost to less than half!
Hotel Overview
Opened in 2015, Keemala is a relatively new hotel that gained social media fame due to its unique architecture. It has also been featured in various international magazines as a luxurious hidden gem.
With only 38 rooms, Keemala is an exclusive 5-star resort recognized for its distinctive approach to hospitality, earning the SLH (Small Luxury Hotels) designation. Each villa comes with a private pool and is designed to provide ultimate privacy.
Lobby & Check-In
At 3:00 PM, we checked in while sipping tea at the uniquely designed bird’s nest-themed lobby. From here, we could see the entire resort—it felt like a village, with villas scattered across the lush hillside.
Keemala is highly sought after, often fully booked. We had to reschedule our stay once, and it was incredibly difficult to find availability.
The Villas
Guests move around the resort via buggy rides. The hotel offers four villa types, each inspired by ancient lifestyles:
- Clay Pool Cottage
- Tent Pool Villa
- Tree Pool House
- Bird’s Nest Pool Villa
We chose the smallest option, the Clay Pool Cottage (126 m² / 1,356 sq. ft.).
This villa felt like a standalone house with a private entrance and a personal pool. The canopy bed gave it a romantic touch, and both the bedroom and bathroom had impressively high ceilings.
One delightful surprise was the complimentary minibar, including snacks and drinks. We enjoyed them while soaking in the large bathtub—a rare treat for our kids, who normally wouldn’t be allowed to eat in the bath!
Staying with Kids
Keemala is not specifically designed for families with children. The website even mentions this, and we had to sign a waiver at check-in (perhaps for liability reasons?).
Here are some things parents should be mindful of:
- Delicate lace curtains around the bed (tempting for kids to pull!)
- Slightly steep slope leading to the bathroom
- Deep private pool
- Slippery floors
Despite these concerns, our stay was fantastic!
- The hotel provided two baby cribs
- The restaurant had high chairs and kids’ tableware
- Thai staff are incredibly kind and welcoming to children
For families traveling with kids, I highly recommend bringing arm floaties and pool rings for safety in the deep pool.
Breakfast
In the past month alone, we’ve stayed at eight different hotels, but Keemala’s restaurant surpassed them all in quality and taste.
While there’s a buffet area for fruits and bread, all main dishes are freshly prepared to order. From guava juice to porridge to Eggs Benedict, every bite was a delight. You can order as many dishes as you like!
Another great feature: you can opt to have breakfast in your villa. Dining poolside would be an incredible experience.

Access
Keemala is located in the Kamala Beach area, about a 40-minute drive from Phuket International Airport.
However, traffic in Phuket has been heavy lately, and we were advised to allow at least 1.5 hours for the return trip—which turned out to be accurate.

- Travelers interested in unique architecture
- Guests who prioritize privacy
- Families seeking a special experience
- Visitors looking for Beautiful, Instagram-worthy accommodations
Interestingly, we met other families during our stay, including a British family with a 2-year-old and a newborn, as well as siblings aged 8 and 10. One British family told us, “This resort is so amazing that we don’t even feel like leaving to explore the city.”

今回は、１ヶ月いろんなホテルに泊まった中でも特に印象に残るno.1 or 2な宿、キーマラ。
ホテルライターのお友達にも、そこ気になっていた！と言われるような、見た目やストーリーが特徴的で面白いデザインの宿です。空中に浮かぶ鳥の巣のような高級ヴィラ。
タイで旅先を絞っている時にSmall Luxury Hotels（SLH）の称号を持つこのホテルを見つけ、私が写真に一目惚れ。
泊まってみたい！でも子連れで大丈夫かな？と悩んで夫婦レビューを色々見ながら決定し、このホテルのためにプーケットに行きました。実際泊まってみてのレビューです。
家族で一泊10-15万円という贅沢な宿ですが、最後に紹介する方法で半額以下に抑えることができました。
ホテル概要
全室にプライベートプールが付き、完全なプライバシーを重視した造りが特徴で。
客室数３８と少なく、独自の経営方針が高く評価されSLH(Small Luxury Hotels)称号を獲得した5つ星ホテル。
2015年にオープンした比較的新しいホテルながら、その見た目でSNSで人気に。
各国の雑誌でも特集が組まれる人気の隠れ家おこもりリゾートです。
ロビー＆チェックイン
15時、鳥の巣をモチーフにしたユニークなロビーでお茶を飲みながらチェックイン。
全体像が見えます。まるで一つの村みたいに、山の中に点在する部屋たち。美しくて思わず写真を撮ってまう。
なお満室が続いてるとのことで、レイトチェックアウト（チェックアウトを10時から14時にするなど遅らせること）はできないと言われました。でもこのあとお部屋に送ってくださったスタッフが、特別に12時でいいよ、と言ってくれました。
私たちも実は予約後日程変更をしたのですが、なかなか空いてなくてものすごい大変でした。
お部屋
お部屋にはバギーで移動。
ホテルには4つのヴィラタイプがあり、それぞれが起源数百年前の古代生活様式からインスピレーションを得たデザインがあります。
– クレイ・プール・コテージ
– テント・プール・ヴィラ
– ツリー・プール・ハウス
– バーズ・ネスト・プール・ヴィラ
私たちが選んだのは、クレイプールコテージ（126㎡）。
玄関があり、プライベートプールも備えた一軒家。天蓋付きのベッドがロマンチックな雰囲気。
お風呂も寝室も、天井が高い！
家具もアンティークで素敵です。
素敵な藤のバスケットの中には、コーヒーミルなどが入っていて、新鮮な豆から本格的なコーヒーが淹れられるようになっています。
驚いたことに、スナックや冷蔵庫の中身まですべてコンプリメンタリー（無料）だそう！
大きなお風呂に浸かりながら、子供達といただきました。
いつもはお風呂でスナックなど食べさせないので、良い思い出になったかな。
子連れステイ、実際どうだった？
正直、特に子供向けをうたった施設というわけではありません。
ホテル側もウェブサイトでもそう書いてあり、チェックイン時にもその旨の同意書にサインが必要（訴えられないため？）。
親としてちょい気をつけなきゃと思ったポイント：
– ベッドの周りの美しいレースのカーテン（子供が引っ張る可能性も）
– バスルームへの少し急なスロープ
– プライベートプールは深め。プール用の腕輪と浮き輪やフロートの持っていけば、深いプールも問題なし！
– ツルツルの滑りやすい床
でも結果的に大正解でした！
– ベビーベッドを2台用意
– レストランにはキッズチェアと子供用食器
– どこでもそうですが、タイ人スタッフの子供への優しさは格別！
朝食
この1ヶ月だけでも８つのホテルに泊まっていますが、
キーマラのレストランは他のホテルを圧倒する美味しさでした。
ビュッフェスペースで野菜やパンなどが取れる他、全て一品ずつオーダーメイドで提供されます。
グアバジュースもおかゆもエッグベネディクトも、一口目から感動モノ。
何品でも頼んでいい。
そして、部屋での食事も可能だったとは！プール脇で食べるのも良さそう。
カマラビーチを見下ろす景色ももちろん最高です。
プールや敷地内のお散歩
大きなプールもあります。滝付き、かつ、プールで飲めるバーもあります！
多分みなさんヴィラのプライベートプールにいるので、あんまり人がいません。
いても、誰も泳いでなくて皆本を読んだりスマホを見たり日焼けしにきてる。
私たちだけが泳いでる、っていうシーンがこの1ヶ月の旅の中何度あったことか。
それ以外にも蓮の花が咲いてたり、吊り橋があったりと、歩いててて飽きません。
暑いので夕方または朝早めがおすすめ。
バギーでの送迎
敷地内がアドベンチャーな森みたいな感じで、アップダウンもあるので移動はこちらで。
子供達は大喜び！
特に後ろ向きの席を3歳の娘は気に入ってました。
アクセス
プーケット国際空港から車で約40分の、カマラビーチエリア。
今はプーケットは道が混んでるので、１時間半は見ておいた方が良いとスタッフの方に言われて早めに出ました。
まさにその通りになりました。これが結構ネック。うちは普段日本では電車移動なので、車が長いのに慣れてなくて、毎年アメリカに移動した後も最初は大変なのです。
車慣れてる家族なら問題ないかもね！うちもすぐ慣れ、行きは二人とも飽きて大変でしたが帰りは問題ありませんでした。
客層
朝食会場やプールで見る限り、やはりカップルや夫婦が多し。男性同士もいました。でも、他にも2歳と0歳の兄弟や、8歳と10歳の兄妹の子連れファミリーもいました。
朝食で、イギリスから来ていた家族と話したら「このリゾートが良すぎて街に出る気にならない」と話していました。ほんと、お籠りSTAYがおすすめです！

– プライバシーを重視する人
– 特別な体験を求める家族

ちなみに
タイはこういう、欧米に向けた贅沢デザインホテルがたくさんあるようで。ただこういうホテルにいるお客さんで、ローカルタイ人はほぼ見ないというのも現実でした。
でもその分お寺などの二重価格とかも普通です。国民からは取らず、外国人旅行者からがっつりとる。
