こんにちは！全国通訳案内士、二人の娘を含めた日米家族で年100日旅しているAmiです。 中東に1ヶ月弱滞在した中でも、家族全員が「ここは良かった」と意見が一致したグランドハイアット ドバイでの1週間をレポートしますね。
夏は毎年２ヶ月くらいアメリカなので、今年の冬は中東２カ国で過ごすことにしました。（ちなみに去年は、タイとマレーシアで１ヶ月過ごしました。）
実はドバイ、2021年の冬にも家族で3ヶ月くらい住んでいたので、私たちにとってはかなり慣れている場所。住んでいる途中に第二子の妊娠がわかり、後半は私はナニーさんに子育ても頼るほどあまり出歩けなくなってしまったこと、義父母を呼べなかったことがあり、今回はドバイを含む中東にしたのです。
そんな勝手知ったるドバイでの今回の滞在は、アメリカからグランマとグランパ（義父母）を呼んで、三世代での賑やかな旅になりました。
早朝に到着！まずは金ピカな華やかさに圧倒される
日本からのエミレーツ航空で朝6時頃にドバイへ到着。そこからタクシーで15分か20分くらい。空港から本当に近いので、長旅のあとの子供たちを連れての移動には最高に楽でした。
ホテルの前では、前日にカタール航空のビジネスクラスで一足早く着いていたグランマとグランパが待っていてくれました。子供たちは二人に会えてもう大喜び！ ドバイは基本派手なことをわかっていつつも、やはりロビーの金ピカな華やかさには圧倒されます。
広すぎて贅沢！140平米のスイートルーム
チェックインしてお部屋に入ると、その広さにびっくり。 合計140平米くらいあって、日本の我が家のマンションを優に超える広さです。ハイアットの最高ステータスである「グローバリスト」なので、今回もお得にスイートルームに滞在させてもらいました。

ベッドルームの景色も圧巻
部屋にはフルーツの盛り合わせが用意されていました。ハイアットはいつも、グローバリストの私たちにこうして用意してくれるのが嬉しいポイントです。
バスルームは、私が恵比寿の時に住んでいた１DKの家よりも広いかもしれない。いや、確実に広い。
家具に角がなく丸いものばかりなのも、4歳と2歳の娘たちが走り回っても危なくなくて良かったです。明るい光がたっぷり入って、目の前もドーンと開けているので、滞在中は常に晴れやかな気持ちで過ごせました。 長女は毎回の如くその晩から「グランマたちの部屋に泊まる！」とのことで、次女は私たちと。たった3人でこの広い部屋を使うのはもったいないと思うほど贅沢な1週間でした。
思い出しても笑ってしまうエピソード
ここで一つ、笑ってしまうお話を。 ラウンジに私と次女、グランパの3人で行った時のことです。グランパが、部屋で待っている長女にも少ーしだけナッツを持ち出してあげようとしたんです。 でも、ここのラウンジは接客が良すぎて、店員さんがずっと近くについてくれているんですよね。グランパは「今だ、やっといない！」というタイミングを見計らって、ようやくナッツをポケットに入れました。
ところが、出る時にたまたま私が上を見たら、なんと頭上に監視カメラが！笑。 あんなにタイミングを測ってコソコソしてたのに意味ない！これには二人で大爆笑してしまい、釣られて次女も爆笑でした。よく考えたら、単に店員さんに「これ持って帰っていい？」って聞けばよかっただけなのにねw
子連れには「マーケットカフェ」と「iZ」が正解
ここのメインラウンジは、実は子供は入室禁止。なので私たちは、朝食も夕食ももっぱらメインダイニングの「The Collective by Market Café」を利用していました。お料理が本当に美味しくて大正解。
それから、家族用のラウンジ「iZ」もあって、そこは子供たちもOK。昼間は軽食やフルーツ、クッキーがあるので、ちょっとお腹が空いた時に便利でした。次女はまだ牛乳が大好きなので、温かい牛乳をもらいに行ったりできるのが本当に助かりました。
砂漠の中に「森ごと」持ってきたオアシス
2003年に開業したこのホテルは、約15ヘクタールというドバイ屈指の広大な敷地を誇ります。中には孔雀がいるエリアもあります。 ロビーの下に行くと素晴らしい森が広がっているのですが、解説を見ると「マレーシアから全て森ごと持ってきた」とあります。砂漠のドバイでこれだけの緑を屋内に持ってきて、かつ船まであります。建築的にもとても面白い。維持するのは相当なコストがかかっているはず。ドバイらしい贅沢を肌で感じました。
プールは屋外に3つ、屋内に1つあり、さらに宿泊者無料の本格ウォーターパークまで新設されています。キッズエリアの「Roli Poli」も、グローバリスト特典で1日2時間無料にしていただいたので、たっぷり満喫しました。

We recently spent nearly a month in the Middle East, and if there’s one place my entire family agreed was “absolutely fantastic,” it was Grand Hyatt Dubai. Here is my report on our one-week stay there!
Since we spend about two months every summer in the US, we decided to spend this winter exploring two countries in the Middle East. (For context, last year we spent a month in Thailand and Malaysia.)
Actually, my family and I lived in Dubai for about three months in the winter of 2021, so it’s a very familiar place for us. However, during that stay, I found out I was pregnant with my second daughter. I dealt with such bad morning sickness that I eventually had to rely on a nanny and couldn’t go out much, nor could we invite my in-laws. That’s exactly why we chose the Middle East this time—to finally have the experience we missed out on!
This trip became a lively three-generation adventure, as we invited Granma and Granpa (my parents-in-law) over from the US.
Early Morning Arrival: The Glitz and Gold
Our Emirates flight from Japan landed in Dubai around 6:00 AM. From there, it was a quick 15 to 20-minute taxi ride—so close to the airport! For anyone traveling with kids after a long-haul flight, this proximity is a total lifesaver.
Waiting for us at the hotel entrance were Granma and Granpa, who had arrived a day earlier on Qatar Airways Business Class. The kids were over the moon to see them! Even though I’m used to Dubai’s “extra” aesthetic, the gold-cladded, glitzy grandeur of the lobby still managed to blow me away.
Pure Luxury: The 140sqm Suite
When we checked into our room, the sheer scale of it was shocking. At roughly 140 square meters (total), it easily exceeds the size of our apartment in Japan. Since I hold Globalist status—the highest tier in the World of Hyatt program—we were lucky enough to stay in this suite at an incredible value.
Living Room & Bedroom Views The view from the bedroom was simply breathtaking.
A beautiful fruit platter was waiting for us—Hyatt always looks after us Globalists with these thoughtful touches. As for the bathroom? It might actually be larger than the entire 1DK apartment I used to live in back in Ebisu. Actually, no… it’s definitely larger!
One thing I loved was the furniture; almost everything had rounded edges. I didn’t have to worry about my 4 and 2-year-olds hurting themselves while running around. The room was flooded with natural light, and the open view kept us in a bright, sunny mood all week.
As she usually does, my eldest daughter announced from the first night, “I’m sleeping in Granma’s room!” leaving just the three of us in our massive suite. It felt almost too quiet for such a huge space!
An Episode That Still Makes Me Laugh
I have to share a funny story from this stay. One afternoon, Granpa, my younger daughter, and I were in the lounge. Granpa wanted to bring a tiny handful of nuts back to the room for my older daughter.
However, the service in this lounge is too good—the staff are always hovering nearby to help you. Granpa waited for that perfect “Mission Impossible” moment when no one was looking to quickly slip the nuts into his pocket.
But as we were walking out, I happened to look up and saw a security camera right over our heads! Laughs. All that sneaking around for nothing! Granpa and I burst into laughter, and my younger daughter started laughing along with us. Looking back, we should have just asked the staff to take them to go! w
Dining with Kids: Market Café and “iZ”
The main lounge here is actually a “no-kids” zone. Because of that, we had both breakfast and dinner at the main dining area, The Collective by Market Café. It was a total win—the food was consistently delicious.
For a more casual vibe, there is also a family-friendly lounge called iZ, where children are welcome. They have light snacks, fruit, and cookies throughout the day. My younger daughter still loves her milk, so being able to pop in for a warm bottle was so helpful.
An “Imported Forest” in the Desert
Opened in 2003, this hotel sits on 15 hectares—one of the largest properties in Dubai. It even has an area where peacocks roam freely!
Below the lobby, there is a stunning indoor forest. The description says they brought the entire forest over from Malaysia. Bringing that much greenery indoors in the middle of a desert—and even including a boat—is an architectural marvel. The maintenance cost must be astronomical. It’s a true taste of Dubai-style luxury.
The hotel features three outdoor pools, one indoor pool, and a brand-new waterpark that is free for guests. We also made great use of the Roli Poli kids’ club; thanks to the Globalist perks, we got two hours of free access for two days.
How “Hyatt Globalist” Status Changes the Game
The reason we enjoyed the suite upgrade, lounge access, and free kids’ club perks is all thanks to my Globalist status. Here’s what you get:

Usually, you need 60 nights a year to earn this. But there’s a shortcut!
The best way is through credit cards. In Japan, you can leverage Hyatt-affiliated cards or keep an eye out for “Status Match” campaigns to reach this top-tier status much faster.
Grand Hyatt Dubai is a truly luxurious space carved out of the desert. For a three-generation trip or a family vacation, I can’t recommend it enough!
